West Ham's new head coach Nuno said in his first exclusive interview with the club that he hopes to get familiar with all the players as soon as possible and do his best in his work every day.

Welcome to West Ham United. How do you feel?

Feels very good. I am very happy and honored to be here. I'm ready to go into the work and am very happy to meet this challenge.

This is a big club, and it is a major opportunity for you and the club - do you think so too?

First of all, the most important thing is that we now have to take the time to get to know each other, the team and the players. This is the most important thing right now. When we came here to work yesterday (Saturday), we began to realize that this is a large-scale club. There are expectations here, but before talking about all the expectations and achievements we are eager to achieve, we must first lay a foundation, a foundation that allows the team to get closer and connect with the fans. Only in this way can we start to move forward step by step.

What is your primary responsibility as a head coach?

I am trying to get to know all the players as soon as possible. I think I know them more deeply than they know me, which is determined by the nature of our work as coaches. We try to collect all the information about the players, many of them, we have also played as opponents in the past. The task now is to prepare for the next game, a tough battle against Everton. "Day in and out" - you'll hear me say this often, but that's what I believe in. We must live in the present and make sure we are the best every day.

How important are the roles of the "Hark Gang" fans? The role of

fans is crucial. Because of this, I firmly believe that what we want to do is to lay a solid foundation first. Now is not the time to ask for it from the fans, but the time to give it to the fans. We have to show our performance to infect them before they can give back to us. When we build this bond, when other teams come to our home court, it will be "hell" for them. But we must first make this connection. All of us—everyone and fan in the club—everyone who truly cares about West Ham must unite and protect each other.

What is special about coaching in this country and in the Premier League?

This is the best league, the most challenging league, and the place where top players gather. That's what we love, competing in the Premier League.

As a Premier League head coach, it's a completely immersive role and you have to give up a lot of things. What ignited your passion for this character?

This is my life. As long as I can remember, my life has been inseparable from football, which has long been my daily life. When I woke up and before going to bed, all I thought about was football. Now what I think is: ‘How can I make these players better? How can I help them improve? ’If I can make the players improve, the team will improve; if the team improves, the club will naturally improve. It's that simple.

You have been playing football since you were a child and have also said that football is your life. What is special about this sport? What ignites your love for it?

The reason we are here is because we love football, aren't we? So, what we want is to enjoy football, but at the same time we must be responsible and devote ourselves to it. This is my life creed, working hard to help, trying and bringing new solutions and new things, things that can make us stronger.

You talked about your relationship with fans and teams, some of the players you have known from previous clubs or Premier League?

As I said before, we are all familiar with each other. Over the years, we have fought countless times, and even as opponents, we know each other. Like the Kilman you mentioned, I worked with him. But now, it is a whole new beginning for everyone. This is a new process that requires us to truly explore. We must find our own position in this process and clarify what kind of team we want to become. First of all, we must recognize our current strength and characteristics before we can shape our own style and identity. But the premise of all this is that we must truly and deeply understand each other.

At the club before you, you are actively involved in local community activities. West Ham is located in East London and we have a huge, very diverse community here. Are you looking forward to being part of such a large family club with members from all over the world?

Yes, of course. I want to first integrate myself into this club and get along with you (the staff), with everyone here because we have to be a real big family. We must realize that we are representatives of this community. The community sees us as a mirror, and sees the image they yearn for in us, and because of this, we must establish strong values and respect each other.
