Guimarães has just returned from an arduous journey to the Far East, where he participated with the national team in games against South Korea and Japan. Recently, he accepted an interview with the media.
Talking about winning the League Cup, Guimarães said: "Since (Newcastle was) acquired, we have changed everything. We have participated in the Champions League twice in the past three seasons and won a trophy."
"We have been stable, but it is not enough for us, we want more. We want to continue It's been an incredible journey so far. It's more about the fans how much they've enjoyed it, but for me I've always enjoyed it but now I want more." Newcastle have been solid defensively this season, with five clean sheets in seven games. In this regard, Guimarães said: "In the Premier League, the most important thing is not to concede a goal. If we do not concede a goal, we know that we have a chance against anyone and we are very close to winning."
Newcastle is full of talents on the offensive end, with Gordon, Ilanga, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy competing with Walter Mader for three positions.
Guimarães said: "We have seen that with the players we have in attack, players who are fast and of a high level, they can score in one opportunity."
"Walter Mader has been outstanding for us. He scores goals, but not just goals, in building the attack, the way he plays deep as a No. 10. It is not common for a player of such a height to have such good skills with his feet. I am very happy that he is with us."
Guimarães hopes Newcastle will achieve a wave of winning streak: "I have been talking about stability in the dressing room and this is the first time this season that we may win two or three games in a row."
"We won two games in the last game against Nottingham Forest, which is an important moment. The international break comes at a bad time because we just want to keep going and maintain our momentum, but now we can focus on the next games this month."
