Vera officially announced that Football Director Monkey has resigned, but will still serve as a consultant to V Sports. After Monkey left office, Roberto Olabe immediately took over his position.
Olawi was a professional goalkeeper in his career and has rich management experience. He has coached Real Sociedad, Almeria and Royal United, and later transformed into football director. Prior to joining Villa, he served as football director for Real Sociedad, Valladolid, Ecuador’s Valley Independent, Aspire and the Qatar Football Association, as well as the technical director of La Liga.
This is the second time Olawi and Emery have worked together in Almeria. In addition, Damian Wilgani will continue to serve as Director of Football Operations.
