Mirror reported that Newcastle striker Wilson will join the DAZN Club World Cup commentary team and serve as guests along with legendary star Ronaldo and former German international Khdira. BBC host Kelly Summers will also participate in hosting the event. The 32 teams' championship will kick off in Miami, with former England striker Wilson providing insights and joining Brazilian football icon Ronaldo and German World Cup champion Khedira. DAZN has exclusive broadcast rights for one month, including more than 60 games, with Manchester City and Chelsea representing the Premier League. Former Chelsea player Mikel will also join the comment team.
Wilson's future at St James Park is uncertain, and his contract expires on June 30. The striker will try to serve as a commentator in the summer, although both sides are still in talks about a possible contract extension. Another former England international Andros Townsend will also join DAZN's reporting team, and former Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel will also provide comments.
Last December, DAZN and FIFA announced their partnership, and DAZN received exclusive global broadcasting rights for the club's World Cup, the first time a single broadcaster has obtained exclusive broadcasting rights for men's international club events.
Wilson recently said: "I know my worth and I'm still full of desire. Even though I know Alex is scoring, I'm still frustrated when I see that my name is not on the roster, I know I'm not ready to leave football."
